I enjoyed this book! While the subject matter is dark, the lines had a way of helping me to see the light around me.
I love the way author Red Dwyer plays with familiar concepts as she presents them in such creative ways. The twists make the book a read that I looked forward to; I slowed down the rate at which I read it so that I could savor each word.
The poems are full of vivid images and wisdom about love and self-acceptance. I highly recommend the book for any young adult or adult reader.

There’s a beautiful unveiling of heart in this book of poetry ….. As an avid reader of poetry, I don’t think this is a dark book at all.
Because of this “going deeper” feeling I got whilst reading, I think this book sheds light …….Again Unveiling: one word and emotion at a time.
My favourite poem is “Y Axis”. I think Red swims in the realm of words, and what each one personifies …….Each word has a feeling, a colour and a picture engraved onto itself. As I am re-reading all of William Blake’s works: i find similarity in Red Dwyer’s. This is a wonderful coincidence …………
Mantra’s Book of Shadows is a great read. Much to be absorbed and much to shed light upon .

Mantra’s Book of Shadows reaches out and grabs you from the first poem, in four distinct groupings each poem conjures a very real emotional response. The language is rich and evocative, painting pictures of people and places most of us have known either in our lives or our dreams. I certainly have my favorites in each group, even renaming them for the people they reminded me of. Whether you are new reader of poetry or an old hand, Red Dwyer dishes up in Mantra’s Book of Shadows a mix of passionate storytelling and darkly sensitive poetry worth space on your library shelf!
