Liz Campbell is a freelance writer and artist currently living and working in Chandler, Arizona.
Words and grammar have been an important and fun part of daily life since childhood, with her family showing much admiration and appreciation for a good pun and her grandfather teaching her the power of words, when used correctly, and respect for proper application of written forms of communication. Liz was interested in art but not convinced she had the talent and let her dream of being a journalist or painter go while she pursued other avenues of career choices until rediscovering her ability to write shortly after moving to Arizona and being diagnosed with a serious mental illness.
Enrolling in the graphic design program at the Art Institute, Liz was immediately intrigued with digital art in all its forms and taught herself to use various vector and raster programs beyond Adobe. She learned to use the camera and traditional art media as tools which are vital to the creative process.
She began writing as a staff writer, producing a variety of written works from blog posts to press releases and other general internet content, and soon became the Director of Priority Submissions at the company she worked with, becoming proficient in a wider variety of assignments. She also has several illustrated covers to her credit on published and soon-to-be published books.
Liz has fully embraced her creative nature, striving every day to improve her skills, with an artistic ability more intuitive than technical and a writing style that is warm and friendly. In addition, intent on showing a positive side to something that has long been treated as a bad thing and source of shame and fear, Liz writes with the hope of being a voice for change in the treatment of those who suffer from mental illness.
She uses writing and drawing to express some of the deepest, most difficult to explain emotions as well as humor and optimism. Liz has turned her focus on writing about everyday things we do on a regular basis, yet rarely think about why, as a challenge to be more tolerant of not only others but to understand and be tolerant of ourselves.
